The Carr Family's Legacy of Love
When Clarence and Mary Lou Carr married in Eddyville, Nebraska, on January 8, 1949, they had no idea they were beginning a generational legacy for kids in need. Over their 75-year marriage, Clarence and Mary Lou adopted three children, served as foster parents to two boys, raised their granddaughter when their daughter passed away, provided a home for their teenage nephew, and developed strong relationships with their grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Mary Lou and Clarence loved and adored all children. When Clarence passed away earlier this year at 99, his family decided to give back to the causes that he cared so deeply about. Those who wanted to honor his memory were asked to send memorials to the Carr family, which were then distributed among three organizations that shared the same values as Clarence – one of which was CEDARS Home for Children Foundation.
“I feel confident that our donation is going to a good cause,” Clarence’s daughter, Linda Bryant, said. “Our father loved to help children, and this memorial continues his legacy.”
Clarence’s grandson, Asa Bryant, also gives back through his volunteer work at CEDARS. Just like his grandfather, he enjoys helping kids and being surrounded by the next generation.
CEDARS is thankful for families, like the Carrs and Bryants, who share in our mission of helping children and youth achieve safety, stability, and enduring family relationships. Your support helps us continue our 77-year legacy of being here for kids who need us most.
