Continuing a Legacy of Caring for Kids

Meet Erin and Dustin, licensed foster parents with CEDARS! They have been making a difference in the lives of kids for three years now.

Erin was the driving force in becoming licensed. Her mom and dad were foster parents and welcomed their first placement of three siblings when Erin was just 11 years old. Sharing her parents’ attention wasn’t always easy, but she quickly gained a new perspective when the siblings started to open up about the hardships they had faced. Erin came to appreciate the safety and stability her parents provided, as well as their openness to give it to other kids in need.

After establishing a family and raising four kids primarily as a single mother, Erin felt motivated to help more children just like her parents did. She learned that CEDARS licensed single parents, so she took the leap to apply and hasn’t looked back.

Erin knows that teens are her niche - so naturally, her first placement was a teen girl named Veronica. By the time Veronica came into Erin’s care, she had lost all trust in adults and their ability to keep her safe. But through patience and unwavering support, Erin helped rebuild that trust and became an advocate for Veronica, ensuring she had the tools she needed to thrive.

When Veronica went on to a more permanent placement, Erin was sad to see her go;  she had grown to love her. However, she was excited for the opportunity to continue helping even more kids experiencing some of the toughest times of their lives.

“For that season, you are there to help them,” said Erin.

She has gone through many phases of life with kids in foster care, providing the safety and stability they need. She has been a haven for children of all ages and varying levels of needs, showing them that they are important and worthy of love.

She recently got married to Dustin, who is now also licensed. Together, they’ve formed a strong partnership to impact even more kids. They currently have two teens in their home and are proud of the growth they have already seen. We can’t wait to see them thrive, knowing they will because of the strong support Erin and Dustin provide.

CEDARS is so thankful for Erin and Dustin. Their work as foster parents helps carry out our mission of helping children find safety, stability, and enduring family relationships.

Thank you, Erin and Dustin. You are truly making a difference!
