Training presented by Project Harmony

This course prepares workers for situations that can arise while working in the field directly with children and families. In this training, participants will discuss challenges associated with working with families in their homes or community setting and how to manage stressful situations while keeping oneself and the families safe. Participants will learn how to spot unsafe situations. Be advised that this is an introductory training with basic information most helpful to new case workers. It would be a reminder of best practices to those who have been in the field longer.

Objectives:

  1. Describe general roles of a Home Visit worker
  2. Identify safety threats and indicators of potentially dangerous situations
  3. Recognize the different response options when faced with a safety threat
  4. Build communication skills that can help de-escalate a situation

This training consists of 2 hours of instruction time followed by 2 hours of scenario-based practice situations. This training begins in the Project Harmony Theater on the 2nd floor.

Scheduling Note: We must have 6-12 people enrolled for this training to be effective. Project Harmony may cancel a date due to low enrollment.
