This training is part of Strengthening Nebraska's Response to Domestic Violence: 2026-2027, Interdisciplinary Virtual Training Series. This five-session training program equips professionals across Nebraska’s domestic violence response systems with the knowledge and skills to improve victim support, strengthen collaboration, and enhance statewide responses. Topics include domestic violence dynamics, lethality, stalking, co-occurring abuse, trauma-informed practices, offender intervention, investigations, documentation, Nebraska laws, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Session 1: Understanding the Landscape: Dynamics, Stalking, & Survivor-Centered Practice

9:00-10:00 am
Domestic Violence Dynamics & Co-Occurring Abuse
Course Description: This session explores the complex dynamics of domestic violence, including coercive control, barriers to safety, and the behavioral patterns of both victims and perpetrators. Participants will also examine how domestic violence intersects with other forms of abuse, such as elder, child, and animal abuse, to strengthen comprehensive and coordinated responses.

Stalking and Technological Abuse
Course Description: This session examines the prevalence and evolving nature of stalking and technology-facilitated abuse, including the increasing role of emerging technology and AI. Participants will learn to recognize warning signs, effectively document and report incidents, and understand how perpetrators use technology to monitor, control, and intimidate victims. Emphasis will be placed on coordinated system response and strategies for adapting practices across law enforcement, prosecution, victim advocacy, and allied professionals to improve victim safety and offender accountability.

Working with Victims of Domestic Violence
Course Description: Designed for all disciplines responding to domestic violence, this session focuses on traumainformed, survivor-led approaches that prioritize trust, safety, and empowerment. Participants will explore strategies for effective safety planning and learn how to support diverse and minority populations with respect and cultural responsiveness.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all five sessions in order to receive credit for the full training series. Attendance for each session will be tracked. This interdisciplinary training is structured to enhance cross-disciplinary understanding and strengthen collaborative responses to domestic violence in Nebraska.
