EXTERNAL Supporting LGBTQIA2S+ Young People and their Families Receiving Child Welfare Services

Training presented by the Child Welfare Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, & Expression (SOGIE) Institute

It is critical that parents and caregivers attend to the unique needs of every young person. This is particularly pivotal when considering how these needs differ in youth with intersecting identities and how this impacts their development and experience. The Child Welfare SOGIE institute is hosting a 90-minute webinar that will present current data on services, outcomes, and experiences of child welfare involved LGBTQIA2S+ youth. The session will also offer strategies for fostering understanding, facilitating open dialogue, addressing common misconceptions, and additional resources for supporting and educating families about LGBTQIA2S+ identities.
