This training is part of Strengthening Nebraska's Response to Domestic Violence: 2026-2027, Interdisciplinary Virtual Training Series. This five-session training program equips professionals across Nebraska’s domestic violence response systems with the knowledge and skills to improve victim support, strengthen collaboration, and enhance statewide responses. Topics include domestic violence dynamics, lethality, stalking, co-occurring abuse, trauma-informed practices, offender intervention, investigations, documentation, Nebraska laws, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Session 3: Risk & Collaboration: Lethality, Injury, & Coordinated Community Response

9:00-10:00 am
Collaboration Between Victim Service Agencies (DV Agencies, LE, DHHS, CAC, Hospital, etc.)
Course Description: This session explores effective collaboration among victim service agencies, including DV organizations, law enforcement, DHHS, hospitals, and advocacy programs. Participants will review roles, confidentiality, cross-training, and the work of multidisciplinary teams (CRT, SART, Threat Assessment), while learning strategies for developing coordinated, victim-centered policies.

Strangulation, Injuries, & Forensic Nurse Examinations
Course Description: This session covers identifying and documenting strangulation and other injuries, highlighting the role of forensic nurse examinations in victim care, evidence collection, and supporting legal proceedings.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Lethality Assessment
Course Description: This session reviews lethality warning signs, current statistics, and domestic violence death trends in Nebraska. Participants will explore evidence-based lethality assessment models and best practices for identifying high-risk situations. Emphasis will be placed on the critical importance of connecting victims to service providers and coordinated community responses to prevent further harm.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all five sessions in order to receive credit for the full training series. Attendance for each session will be tracked. This interdisciplinary training is structured to enhance cross-disciplinary understanding and strengthen collaborative responses to domestic violence in Nebraska.
