EXTERNAL Children with Problematic Sexual Behavior

Wednesday, December 16, 2026

9:00 AM-11:00 AM

Zoom

Presented by Kristi House

This training is a trauma‑informed, evidence-based training from Kristi House that helps professionals and caregivers understand, identify, and respond appropriately to sexual behaviors in children and youth. Drawing from materials developed by the National Center on the Sexual Behavior of Youth, the training explains sex play, versus problematic sexual behaviors, the impact of development, trauma, technology, and pornography, and emphasizes respectful, non‑stigmatizing language and family‑centered care.

Participants will learn how to distinguish age‑appropriate sexual play from problematic sexual behavior, explore risk and protective factors (including family adversity, exposure to violence, and online influences), and review current research on prevalence and outcomes. The session introduces evidence‑based treatment approaches such as PSB‑CBT, highlights very low recidivism rates with appropriate outpatient care, and outlines what effective therapy should include for both children and caregivers.
