This course teaches skills to identify, understand, and respond to mental health and substance use signs, using the ALGEE Action plan.

Description: Mental Health First Aid (MFHA) is a skills-based training that teaches individuals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. The training introduces participants to the MHFA Action Plan, known as ALGEE, which guides how to assess risk, listen non-judgmentally, give reassurance, encourage professional help, and promote self-care strategies. The curriculum is beneficial for anyone interested in supporting mental health well in their community.

Objectives:

  • Identify common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges
  • Discuss intervention strategies

Audience: This training is intended for anyone interested in learning how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges in adults, including professionals, community members, and caregivers, to provide timely and effective support.
