UNL Students Help CEDARS "Makeover"
Sandra Williams, a UNL art instructor, and her class of budding artists have taken on another CEDARS "makeover". Ms. Williams began this type of community project last semester with a class who transformed the TLC meeting and visitation room into something dramatic and functional. It was such a great experience that she wanted to do it again so, after taking pictures of a couple of CEDARS sites, she and her class decided to make over the teacher's lounge at Northbridge Community Center.
Their mission? To use their artistic skills to make these spaces more organized, functional and relaxing so that ECDC staff will have personal space amidst the storage in which to work on lesson plans and to prepare for the children and youth they serve. The result? A peaceful room painted in rich colors, with built-in shelves and benches, a glass-tiled wall, a new work table and chairs and the CEDARS logo prominently placed on the wall. CEDARS is grateful to be the beneficiary of such a great community art project.
